When I learnt that Sigi – Fonte (Siegfried Hitzler) moved to his fathers house in heaven, it hits me hard too.
Although we already knew that he had to go to the hospital for a routine check-up and that he was slowly getting worse, it always comes as a surprise.
I got to know him briefly in November 2003 at the Focolare CZ in New York. I was on a trip to the Mariapolis Luminosa.
Now in this year, when I arrived in order to stay in Ottmaring near Augsburg, I met him again, especially when I celebrated the mass in their house in Augsburg. Sometimes he came also to our Ecumenical Centre, when he went to visit some friends in the priests house ...
When we met by chance, it was always very nice, cheerful and at the same time deep encounters - always half German, half American!
I always remember his beautiful smile, his profound calm and his deep eyes like a glimpse of heaven.
