I would have so much to say about Fonte as I lived with him day in and day out for about 4 years in Boston in the early nineties. But a short seemingly appropriate anecdote come to mind, Ill try to spell it out.
Fonte had created his own accounting ledger on his computer to do the monthly "red" of the focolare. He had asked me to take over the accounting and was gradually teaching me his system. In doing so one day he recalled an experience he had years before concerning the accounting and shared it with me.
Fonte was outside on the street and a woman from the neighborhood, who he did not know, approached him. She shared with him that she received a heating bill for her home which she was not able to pay. Fonte asked her how much was the cost of the bill? She answered $166 dollars. And he gave her the money. Some days later a member of the community sent Fonte a check for a sum of money he had as a surplus of his expenses, and offered it to the focolare. Then Fonte became very moved, his eyes were teary. "The check," he said, "was for $166."
There would be so much more, but I think something like this could be helpful?
Fontes departure for Heaven made a very big impression on me.
I kept silent about it for a few days. We had a very simple and very profound bond, both at the same time.
It seems so normal to feel that our relationship simply continues.
I suddenly feel Heaven closer to Earth.
